Day 27- And I Feel Like I’ve Been Here Before
Day 22 of my Via De La Plata blog inspired my thinking so today’s blog is kind of a rerun. Also, in my nightly email from my dad he described an article in The Pilot about the Camino and the author noted “Pilgrims can be accused of too much thinking”. GUILTY! Then I remembered Day 22 of the VDLP where a voice in my head, when I was trying to create something, said “Just enjoy the day”. So that’s what I did today and I didn’t think much. It took 3 1/2 hours for the rain to hit but it wasn’t very strong. Fog stole some beautiful vistas, an abundance of mud got in my way. Lots of other stuff but I found a way to enjoy all of it. I rationalized mud made for walking on softer ground which helped my feet. The fog held off the rain. The rain wasn’t strong enough to require my poncho. I heard my first cuckoo bird of this Camino and I wound up hearing them for most of today’s walk. I never get tired of listening to them. I truly enjoyed the things that made up this day.
Last night’s lodging
This tiny dilapidated chapel sits on the top of the day’s longest steepest climb. It was there to greet me and comfort me in all its ragged glory. Just awesome.
